Are home inspectors interchangeable?

I’m the creator of housecatreports.com, a checklist of 1,400+ actions and report statements for inspectors and a collection of sample inspection reports. A lot of inspectors just buy the statements that appear in their reports from other inspectors, forgoing the education they’d get by writing them.

I continually get the best instruction I can find:

Septic - I traveled to Laughlin, NV and Arlington, TX to take the NAWT certification course from different providers (namely the University of Arizona and Real Estate Training Systems, LLC). I don't know of any other inspector who has taken NAWT courses both in-state and out-of-state to be better informed. I passed the exam both times. You'll find me in the NAWT provider directory. Sewer - I traveled to Boulder, CO to take a class on inspecting sewer lines from Jim Krumm. It seems to be the best course available.
Pool and Spa - I traveled to Bryan, TX and Arlington, TX to take pool classes (via the TPREIA-InterNACHI convention and Real Estate Training Systems, LLC).
Mold - I am a mold assessment consultant, the higher of the two levels of licensing for mold assessment offered by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. (#MAC2045) While I don't condone a government limiting who is allowed to inspect for mold, that is the case in Texas. You'll find me in the database.

I graduated with honors from a department of mechanical engineering that was ranked among the top ten in the country by U. S. News & World Report and then worked as an engineer. You don’t need to know engineering to inspect homes, but an engineering background, in my experience, helps instill the discipline to research problems and not take things for granted.

I renovated and sold houses before becoming a home inspector.
